Lincoln to Lodi – 11 March 2022
Lodi was about 1hr 17 from the Bees-z-bees farm so it didnt take long before we checked into Flag City RV Resort.
Flag City was quite full as opposed to the other resorts we had been in. The sites were very well laid out and maintained. Our site had a good sized concrete pad with an area to the side covered with small volcanic rock and a table. The weather was warm and sunny and we were at last able to have a BBQ for supper and sit outside. The cherry on the top was a lovely hot tub with our names on it!
I had a bit of catching up to do in terms of dog wash work and monitoring the budget and Derek wanted to check on some RV repairs. As we had planned to do some wine farm visits in Paso Robles which would be coming up in the next few weeks, we decided to forgo the wine farms this time around and go for a walk around Lodi instead.
Lodi was a little gem and we had no idea that it was considered the mini Napa Valley of California. Hundreds of wine farms offering wine tasting and wonderful wines. Instead we drove out to Lodi Lake with Jax and spent a couple of hours enjoying a pleasant walk around the lake. There were so many birds in the area. One particular species had a beautiful blue colour on the top of their wings, others jet black with a bright red spot on either side of their faces, we even saw woodpeckers high up on a tree. We are so much closer to nature now that we are living the RV life and noticing things we never did before.
We popped into a large pet store at Lodi and bought Minnie min a special cat box with a sleeping area underneath and a soft perch on top, so she could use it in the car when we travel. It was a great hit! We also invested in some “low odour” wet cat food hoping that would remedy the offensive smells that often emanate from her cat litter box. The things you do for your sanity.
One of the nicest things at Flag City was the dog run. Dog runs are usually a small area partitioned off with a fence – their one was like a football field. It was located in the centre of the RV resort surrounded by a fence and literally hundreds of solar panels. This was Jax’s dream and really helped to get rid of all the wriggles.
We enjoyed our stay there and Flag City will be on the list to visit again in the future.
