Iskut to Dease Lake, British Columbia – 26 June 2024
There was zero coverage on the road to Dease Lake which was a big problem for me as I could not work at all. Luckily I was able to get Internet when we arrived but by that time it was quite late in the afternoon. We are going to have to look for a mobile solution while driving, otherwise this will have a very detrimental affect on the business. In addition, we found that our business and personal banking were all set up for text verification, so we couldn’t access them either. Derek promised to look into the Car Satellite solution as well as Starlink’s mobile solution. The challenge with Starlink is that we would have to mount the dish onto either the car or the RV and need a special bracket to do that. We tried to mount it in the car under the sunroof but that didn’t work.
Dease lake was a notch larger than Iskut with the main road in town having a garage and a couple of small takeout restaurants. We took Jax for a walk in the area and discovered Moose poo right near our RV which I was excited about. Unfortunately Elliot Moose did not show his face the entire time we were there which was disappointing.
There were swarms of small, thin blue dragon flies everywhere and lots of bugs like the previous two places. I wore long sleeves all the time and if I wore my black leggings I would spray them fully with bug spray as the buggers seem to be attracted to black and will sting right through the material.
