Cottonwood to Gold Canyon, Arizona – 10 November 2025

We were very glad to arrive at our final destination for this leg of the journey — Canyon Vistas RV Resort in Gold Canyon. As much as we had enjoyed the past weeks of exploring, we were both feeling tired and ready to settle in, unwind, and stay put for a while.

We first discovered this incredible Cal-Am resort a couple of years ago while travelling through the area, and we knew immediately we’d be back. It’s a 55+ community tucked beneath the majestic Superstition Mountains, surrounded by desert but still close to major centres like Phoenix and Scottsdale.

The resort is busy in the best way possible. There’s a thriving pickleball club with 18 courts, so we’re right back into playing 3–4 times a week. And beyond pickleball? Honestly, just about every activity, sport, hobby space, and social event you can think of — sometimes it’s hard to keep up! They truly cater to every interest, from creative arts to fitness studios to evening entertainment. Live music takes place three nights a week, and the calendar of organized events is endless.

Most people we meet return year after year for the fall and winter seasons, and it’s easy to see why. The community is incredibly welcoming, and we’ve already connected with several fellow Canadians. Being surrounded by people who have the time and enthusiasm to participate creates such a vibrant, friendly atmosphere.

Feeling incredibly fortunate to be here — with wonderful company, perfect weather, and no shortage of things to do. Arizona is treating us very well.
