Halifax to Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia – 7 September 2023

The following morning we left Halifax and made our way to Glen Margaret. Once we were all set up, Derek, Frans and I took a drive to nearby Peggy’s Cove which is a popular tourist spot. Along the way we noticed a sign to an aircraft memorial, so we took a look. There were a couple of monuments alongside the ocean – one to remember the survivors of Swissair flight 111 who died when their plane crashed into the Atlantic ocean 8 km off the coast. The other monument commemorated the individual’s that assisted in recovering the bodies.

Peggy’s Cove was a lovely, colourful, quaint fishing village with large white boulders overlooking the ocean on both sides with a lighthouse on the end.  An Alphorn player was blowing on a large Swiss pipe as we walked by, which sounded like a bunch of cows.  We walked around a bit admiring the view and then had an ice cream on a patio overlooking the ocean.  Afterwards Frans and I wandered around some of the gift shops in the village while Derek walked Jax around.

That evening the campsite had a solo guitarist/singer play live music right near our RV so after a BBQ dinner we all sat outside to enjoy the music.  Later we realized that we had all been bitten by numerous mosquitos (right through our clothes) and suffered from several severely itchy bites over the next few days.

The following day we all went for a hike on the Bluffs Wilderness Trail. The trail was primarily through the forest with the ocean on one side and was extremely rocky.
