Meziadin Junction to Iskut, British Columbia – 24 June 2024
When researching campgrounds along the Stewart-Cassier highway we found a lot of reports of campers arriving at campgrounds only to find them closed, so we had no idea what to expect. Our backup was either camping overnight along the side of the highway or moving straight on to Watson Lake about 4 hours away – which we did not relish.
As it turned out, The Red Goat Lodge Campground, was very much open and set along the Eddontenajon lake in the tiny little town of Iskut. No amenities but we had a spectacular view of the lake which changed throughout the day as the clouds moved across one side of the lake to the other. Typical BC surrounded by pine covered mountains – just gorgeous.
There were a couple of other campers the first night but after that we had the entire place to ourselves. We rented a canoe from the owners and rowed across the lake. Initially, we took Jax with us but he did not like the instability of the boat and howled his head off. So we turned back and left him in the RV and rowed out by ourselves.
That evening we had a Teams meeting with K9000 in Australia and then settled in for dinner and TV for the evening.
