Tried some fried green tomatoes as an appetizer at the Stonebridge Grille restaurant in Pennsylvania.

They coated the tomatoes in Panko breadcrumbs and topped them with a cream cheese with craisons and bacon bits, served over shredded lettuce with chopped strawberries on the side.  There was a bit of a BBQ sauce drizzled on it.

The only thing I didnt like was the Panko covering had a bit of a funny taste to it. As though it had been cooked in oil that was used to cook other things. Otherwise the rest of it was quite delicious with the sourish taste of the tomatoes contrasting with the sweetness of the toppings.
