Victoria to Vancouver then Whistler, British Columbia – 30 May 2024
Vancouver, BC
30 May – 31 May 2024
Time to return to the warehouse again to install the new note reader. So after crossing to Vancouver on the Ferry we made our way to Burnaby RV park for a couple days.
The park was fine but we backed right against a fence separating us from a railway line and a loud metal squealing sound noise was heard throughout the day and night. The first night I thought a train had been derailed but then I realized that we were probably on a bend and the trains were applying their brakes as they went past.
The following day Derek went to the warehouse and I stayed at the RV. I walked Jax along the trails near the RV park and then settled down to catch up on some work. I was still feeling very weak and coughing a lot. Hopefully the antibiotics will do their trick so I can start feeling more like myself again.
Whistler, BC
1 June – 4 June, 2024
From Burnaby we travelled along the Sea to Sky highway to Whistler. The weather was rainy and overcast which was a great pity as I always enjoy the view on this drive. We parked at Riverside RV Park which is close to Whistler village and to where our daughter Jo had just opened a new vintage and modern clothing store in the village. It was lovely to see her again after about 2 years of travelling. She arrived with an armful of bright, extremely large orange Peonies which were beautiful.
Time in Whistler went by quickly. I was starting to feel better but the weather was not cooperating. I did manage to get in a few walks with Jax (bear spray handy) along nearby trails leading to Nikolaus North golf course and also Lost Lake, but nothing too strenuous. In the meantime, Derek helped Jo install some security cameras in her store as she had been having problems with theft. We also collected her new treadmill from her warehouse and set it up in her house.
I tried to buy some new Blundstones in the village – mine are 6 years old already and starting to get a bit thin – unfortunately I couldn’t find any one in my size. I doubt I will manage to get new ones now anywhere till after our Alaska trip – I guess they will have to last just a little bit longer. Before leaving, Jo treated us for a lovely supper at the restaurant Twenty One – the food was delicious!
