Wilmington, North Carolina to Lake City, South Carolina – 01 December 2023

We broke up the distance between Wilmington, North Carolina and Savannah, Georgia by staying overnight at Harvest Host Crafty Maibritt where we parked on a grassed area across from the main house.

We were not sure what to expect – perhaps a shop with croquet and other homemade items, but this was a small “hobby” farm in South Carolina. The owner grows all sorts of organic fruits, vegetables and herbs and also farms bees and chickens. She was out but her daughter, Jessica with her two young children, was there.  She kindly showed us around the farm and explained the production of the crops and the bees.   Jessica opened up the Farm store so we could take a look at some of her Mother’s products.  There were all sorts of  natural cosmetics, soaps, tinctures, teas, clothing, honey and elderberry syrup.

We ended up purchasing some Spearmint and Lemon tea (which BTW was outstanding), a little oatmeal Christmas tree soap for Caylin, a bottle of natural bug spray for Jax , some organic Rosemary and Black Pepper, some fresh Tumeric and some Elderberry syrup to use a mix for drinks.  It was a fascinating stay – the kind of lifestyle I am definitely drawn to – one day once our full time travels are done.
