Yosemite to Paso Robles via Delhi – 15 April 2022

As we travelled from Delhi to Paso Robles the scenery became more arid. We were now entering wine country again. Hot, dry valleys.

I thought we were actually going to stay on a ranch, but it was nothing like that. The owner of the RV resort had erected some wooden props mimicking a small mexican ranch town. The town itself is really nice – quite upmarket with beautiful houses and well maintained properties.  Derek was very excited to visit Paso Robles as it was home to one of his favourite wines – J Lohr.  

After an early morning walk around the countryside with Jax, we headed to Paso market walk for lunch. While Derek and Jax waited outside I ventured inside and purchased a vegan “greek” salad for lunch.  It was anything but greek with artichokes, lettuce, pine nuts, vegan cheese and what they called salami.  I enjoyed it but Derek ate it with long teeth.  Only the thought of a BBQ later on, got him through it. I thoroughly enjoyed my oat milk (golden milk) tumeric lattee which I am becoming very partial to.

After dropping Jax off at the RV we headed to J Lohr for some wine tasting.  It was very pleasant afternoon to say the least.  Although I am strictly a white wine drinker I did venture to taste the reds and found them to be quite pleasant.  We bought a few bottles and then made our way into town to look for Derek’s promised BBQ dinner.  We were recommended to go to Jeffry’s which is a legendary BBQ joint.  

Downtown was buzzing.  There was a central park set up with a band stand and tons of shops, wine bars and restaurants all around it.  We found Jefferys and while Derek waited for the food I walked around and took photos of the buskers and restaurants. It was such a pity we were leaving the next day as we could have easily spent a few more days exploring the town and sampling more of their wines. 

Dinner was great and we returned back to the RV to begin prep for leaving the next day.
